WATCH: Pro Racer Andy Pilgrim Thrash the Acura NSX on the Track

Critiques be damned, Acura’s hybrid NSX is still one of our favorites.

When we invited the Acura NSX to our annual Automobile All-Stars event for 2017 (check out the current winners here), we weren't sure what to expect, due its approach to performance with all of its whiz-bang technology. But by the end of our evaluation, we had earmarked it for a trophy, and we said, "Despite its Rube Goldberg-like drivetrain and bogglingly complex electronics, the NSX earned its All-Star status the old-fashioned way: by consistently putting a grin on drivers' faces."

Two years later, we stand by those comments. For 2019, the NSX received a handful of updates, including new paint colors, finishes, and an even nicer interior. Previously optional items are now standard, including navigation, a premium audio system, front and rear proximity sensors, and aluminum sport pedals. Dynamically, the 2019 Acura NSX benefits from stiffer antiroll bars and rear toe-link bushings, more rigid rear hubs, and revised software tuning for its all-wheel drive, stability control, steering, and magnetic dampers—making the car even more controllable, rewarding, and fun to drive.

In our latest installment of Pro Racer's Take, Andy Pilgrim demonstrates just how good the NSX still is as he flogs it around the NCM Motorsports Park road course. Slow it isn't, producing a 0-60-mph time of just 3.15 seconds—thanks to the boost it receives off the line from its electric motors—and a quarter mile time of 11.05 seconds at 126 mph. Its lap time around the challenging circuit is solid, too, with the entire experience reminding us exactly why it put those smiles on our faces from the moment we first drove it. โป๊กเกอร์ เท็กซัส

Kevin Hart Accident Update: ’Cuda Was Converted to a Two-Seater

 What exactly happened?

The recent Kevin Hart car accident involving a SpeedKore-built 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda known as "Menace" has the car-curious world asking, "What happened?" While we don't know the specifics of how Kevin Hart's irreplaceable SpeedKore 'Cuda met its demise, our inside knowledge of the car and its Hellcat Hemi crate engine powertrain may shed some light on what may have happened and can provide a learning opportunity. It's a fact that most accidents are rarely the result of a single failure, but rather the combination of two or more factors. As people look for answers, here are a few things that aren't widely reported or even known by entertainment-industry news outlets like TMZ. (Check out their report here.)

The most glaring thing missed is that this particular 1970 Plymouth was converted from a four-seat configuration to a two-seater long before comedian Kevin Hart owned it. SpeedKore, the builder of the car, gave us extensive access to the car during its initial reveal after the 2016 SEMA show, and you can clearly see that the back seats are gone. Non-automotive news outlets all report the third passenger—Rebecca Broxterman, the driver's reported fiancée—was riding in the back seat, but the car does not have a rear seat, only two small storage compartments, as seen in the photo below. Even in the best of circumstances, riding in the rear of a car that has no seat for a passenger is exceedingly dangerous for obvious reasons: There are no provisions for occupant protection and no safety belt or harness.

What is not so obvious but comes to light with a little digging is that the Hellcat Hemi that was swapped into the car (after it was widely published in the enthusiast media with a less powerful engine) was actually a much more rare, modified Dodge Demon engine with 840 horsepower on tap. (Among other things, the Demon blower/intake manifold assembly had been lowered to fit beneath the low hood). That isn't the issue, though, but one thing is related: The car was most likely not modified to take full advantage of the powertrain's sophisticated stability-control system.

In an interview with Mike Copeland of Diversified Creations of Brighton, Michigan—Copeland is likely the world's most knowledgeable expert on Hellcat engine swaps, but has no affiliation with this car—we discovered that making the Hellcat conversion with full implementation of the stability-control system requires special vehicle-speed and yaw sensors that are not supported in the aftermarket. This fact was later verified by a person close to the Menace build who wants to remain anonymous. GM speed sensors, which are widely used for these types of conversions, cannot be adapted for use in this Chrysler powertrain due to their incompatible output pulses, and must be fabricated from scratch. In all the Hellcat swaps Copeland has been involved with (which is most of them), he has gone through the effort just once. Every other conversion we've seen has the traction control and vehicle stability control disabled to simplify the installation of Hellcat and Demon Hemi engines. Anybody who's driven a Hellcat knows how unruly it becomes in tire-liquifying Track mode, which is what the driver of the SpeedKore 'Cuda—Jared Black—would have faced.

Irrespective of the specific facts of the Kevin Hart car accident, we're willing to posit that three critical errors may have occurred, none of which would have required any link to either excessive speed or impaired ability:

No licensed driver should allow three people to ride in a vehicle designed for two—not on a closed course, and certainly not on a road that is notorious (Mulholland Drive) for its tight turns and frequent deadly accidents. In fact, riding without a seat is illegal in every state, including California, and you'll be written a ticket for it every time if you get caught.

Witnesses report that prior to the accident, the car was heard to have performed a burnout. (For those not familiar, this is the act of heating up the drive tires with the car held stationary). While not wise, it would have provided the driver the opportunity to become familiar with the car's unruly nature, and even if the car was equipped with stability control, a burnout implies it had been disabled beforehand. It is abundantly clear that by the time of the accident, the driver would have already known the stability control was either not built into the vehicle or was deliberately turned off.

We can't comment on the ability of the driver in command, but a cursory search through Jared Black's Facebook page shows no history of involvement with extreme performance cars with 800 horsepower, but that aspect aside, even an experienced driver would not allow the unsafe seating configuration on that road in less-than-ideal conditions. For an experienced driver to allow a third passenger to ride with no safety belts, at night, on Mulholland Drive, with the traction and stability control systems disabled in an 800-hp car is a bad idea. For an inexperienced driver to do this with someone riding in what is effectively a storage compartment is a terrible idea, and is likely to be the focus of inquiry by the CHP—not excessive speed or impaired driving, as hinted at by Hollywood news outlets. ตารางบอล7m

Elon Musk: Tesla Cars Will Soon Talk to Pedestrians, Provides K.I.T.T.-Style Video

If a Tesla could talk, what would it say?

Tesla's eager-to-always-promise-more CEO Elon Musk tweeted this weekend "Teslas will soon talk to people if you want. This is real." Let's unpack that bombshell.

First off, it's not really what it sounds like. No, you won't be able to carry on a conversation with your Tesla in the near future. Instead, the car will use verbal statements to communicate with pedestrians nearby. Currently, the automaker's Model 3 electric sedan includes an audio speaker mounted beneath the front bumper, which plays a Jetsons-style electronic noise when the vehicle is traveling slowly forward or backward. It's to alert humans nearby that the otherwise nearly silent car is on and maneuvering.

In Elon Musk's weekend tweet, included below, he included a video of a red Model 3 pulling out of a parking lot while apparently playing some audio from the '80s TV show Knight Rider: "Well don't just stand there staring—hop in!" (Youngsters: The show starred K.I.T.T., a sentient Pontiac that could talk.) Again, what Tesla seems to be proposing here isn't a modern, real-life K.I.T.T.; rather, the "talking Tesla" will be little more than a four-wheeled device whose utterances are more creative than whirring noises and are automated based on context.

If car is moving slowly, it will play a given soundtrack that may or may not have talking involved. If the car is moving faster, the talking goes away. Perhaps further down the road, Teslas might be capable of engaging in casual banter with people nearby, but that doesn't seem to be what Musk is sniffing at here. At least, we hope it isn't… ทีเด็ดบอลเต็ง

The Over 200-Mile Range EV Club

There are plenty more all-electric vehicles coming, but here are ones you can drive home today.

So, you're serious about buying or leasing a new electric vehicle and don't want to wait for a Rivian, Mercedes-Benz, Polestar, VW, or others that may or may not arrive this year? Congratulations on making the tech jump, but good luck if you don't have a private charger, because relying solely on the current public charging infrastructure isn't a real solution.

Here's a list of the top performers that should take you where you need to go—and back!—on a single charge. And remember these are range estimates—depending on how you drive, the weather, and many other factors, including features like "Ludicrous" mode, can decrease an EV's range substantially.

Porsche Taycan Turbo | Range: 201 Miles | Base Price: $150,900

Over 670 horsepower, zero to 60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds, and a range of at least 201 miles on a single charge? And it's a Porsche? Hell, yeah. The Taycan's price tag includes three years of free public charging—sweet. If you want more power and can sacrifice on the range, the Turbo S packs 751 horses and delivers an EPA-estimated 192 miles of range.

Audi e-tron | Range: 204 Miles | Base Price: $75,795

Audi is serious about its EV game and the e-tron SUV is the first of a long line of electric vehicles from the marque. A 95-kilowatt-hour battery pack offers a decent range of 204 miles and its motors tout a 0-60 mph time in 5.5 seconds.

Nissan Leaf Plus | Range: 226 Miles | Base Price: $37,475

The Leaf Plus packs a 62-kWh battery and a 226-mile range versus a regular Leaf with a 40-kWh battery and only 150-mile range. The affordable Plus version starts at $37,475 before incentives.

Jaguar I-Pace | Range: 234 Miles | Base Price: $81,495

This gorgeous one-speed and recent 2019 Automobile All-Star contender seats five adults and offers a range of 234 miles as well as 394 horsepower and 512 lb-ft of torque. It'll sprint from zero to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds.

Kia Niro EV | Range: 239 Miles | Base Price: $39,545

The spunky Niro's 64-kWh battery pack supplies the juice for its 201 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque from its electric motor. A fun and funky choice, it shares its powertrain with the boxy Soul EV that's coming next year.

Hyundai Kona Electric | Range: 258 Miles | Base Price: $37,495

The normal EV has arrived and its name is Kona. It looks modern and sharp for a compact SUV and offers 258 miles of range. The Kona packs a 64-kWh battery, and its motors deliver 201 horsepower and 291 lb-ft of torque.

Chevrolet Bolt | Range: 259 Miles | Base Price: $37,495

The Chevrolet Bolt is a 2017 Automobile All-Star that delivers 259 miles of range (up from  238) and its motor lays down 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. The feisty four-door hatch can scoot from 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds.

Tesla Model 3 | Range: 220-322 Miles | Base Price: $36,200-$49,690

The Model 3 was our 2018 Automobile Design of the Year pick and, while it took a while, the long-promised $35,000 version is available ($36,200 including delivery). It comes with an estimated 220 miles of range and hits 60 mph mark in 5.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 130 mph. Depending on the battery you pick, standard range varies from 220 miles up to 322 miles for the top Long Range variant.

Tesla Model X | Range: 258-328 Miles | Base Price: $82,190-$86,190

Until the more affordable Model Y rolls out, the seven-seat SUV with funky falcon wing doors offers up to 328-mile range and can tow up to 5,000 pounds. Its dual motors with all-wheel drive can sprint from 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph. The price does not include autopilot and other tech goodies, but if you order a standard five-seater instead of seven, the price starts at $89,500.

Tesla Model S | Range: 287-373 Miles | Base Price: $76,190-$81,190

The top-of-the-line Model S sedan touts an incredible 373-mile range, a 0-60 mph time of 2.4 seconds, and a top speed of 155 mph. Autopilot adds $3,000, "Full Self-Driving Capacity" adds $5,000, and anything else you add, such as color or performance options, adds more. เว็บพนันบาคาร่า

What Would Pickups Spun Off Teslas, Ferraris, and Dodges Look Like?

Think of this is as weird automotive taxidermy, pickup-truck style.

Utes and small pickups such as the Holden Ute (RIP) and Toyota Hilux are hot in Australia, but the body style doesn't really fly in the U.S. (except with us and maybe some of the crowds at SEMA). However, the insurance folks at Budget Direct got creative and made eight concept dream machines that we'd be happy to get behind the wheel of (like the Audi RS4 Avant pickup below). These are the perfect rides for a night at the opera and for hauling fancy packages back home from the mall.

Or how about this Chevrolet Camaro Ute? It looks pretty rad and is a modern take on the classic El Camino. It's a muscle pickup for the drag strip with a long bed to haul an engine and car parts in.

Maybe you're not a General Motors Stan? Then how about this Dodge Ute, which incorporates the best bits from a Charger and Challenger. It's a powerful purple pickup with a Hellcat engine that's good for at least 707 horses. The hood stripes and snorkel vents are a must-have, too.

For the fancier folks, there's this Ferrari Ute. It seems pretty silly for hauling cargo but one this Italian stallion sure looks great at hauling ass. The two-seater sadly ditches the folding hardtop of the drop-top Portofino with which it shares its front end.

Those looking to save a few bucks might like this Honda Civic Ute. It looks like the most practical one of the batch and seems the most likely to actually get a green light from the manufacturer. Make ours a Type R variant and take our money, please. There's also this Renault Megane RS Ute. With its gold paint, the French pickup looks like a blast to drive around the city. The same can't be said about this Rolls-Royce Ute. The teal and silver pickup sports suicide doors that certainly do its overall design no favors. Heck, we're still getting used to a Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV—which, incidentally, would make a more appropriate pickup conversion than the Wraith, wouldn't it?

Finally, we can't forget the Tesla Roadster Ute at the top of the page. It looks wicked cool; even if it appears its moments away from getting broadsided by an electric trolley. We imagine Elon Musk will probably roll out his version of a Tesla Ute at the brand's next shareholder's meeting. ไพ่บาคาร่าออนไลน์

The Fiat X1/9: History, Generations, Specifications

All things Fiat X1/9 on Automobile.

Fiat X1/9 Essential History

Fiat X1/9 Beginnings

The Fiat X1/9 made its debut in 1972 as a replacement for the rear-engine Fiat 850 Spider and was one of the first truly affordable mid-engine sports cars, following the more expensive Porsche 914's 1970 launch. The X1/9 landed on U.S. shores for the 1974 model year using slightly evolved versions of the Fiat 128's MacPherson strut suspension and 67-horsepower 1.3-liter SOHC inline four-cylinder engine, engineered by Aurelio Lampredi. The X1/9 featured wedge-like styling from Lamborghini Miura designer Marcello Gandini at Bertone, and had four-wheel disc brakes, a four-speed manual transmission, and two trunks, one in the rear and one in the front. The latter trunk was large enough to carry a weekend's worth of luggage or the X1/9's removable Targa-style roof panel. These 1974 models featured some unique styling touches compared to later 1.3-liter versions, including smaller bumpers front and rear.

Though the X1/9 wasn't a quick car, with the 0 to 60 mph sprint taking nearly 15 seconds, it's 2,200-pound curb weight and mid-mounted engine ensured excellent handling and driving dynamics. In fact, early press launch events were staged on parts of the old Sicilian Targa Florio route and well-regarded journalists such as Paul Frere arrived home raving about the car which seemed much like a baby Ferrari to many.

Restyled X1/9: 5-MPH Bumpers And More

In 1975, the X1/9 received a slight restyling with larger and heavier twin-bar, 5-mph impact bumpers and the car went on largely unchanged through the 1978 model year. In 1979, the X1/9 was given a more comprehensive styling refresh with better-integrated single-bar bumpers and a redesigned interior with a raised instrument binnacle. A modest bump in power and torque were given with an enlarged 1.5-liter engine from the Fiat Strada sedan and a new five-speed manual transmission offered more relaxed freeway cruising. In 1980, Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection replaced the X1/9's single Weber carburetor both to combat increasing emissions regulations and to restore some of the power and drivability lost from more robustly tuned European-spec cars. The X1/9 continued on like this through the 1982 model year, after which Fiat exited the U.S. market.

Bricklin Takes Over X1/9 With Bertone

But that wasn't the end of the X/19 yet, as U.S. auto importer Malcom Bricklin struck a deal with coachbuilder Bertone to import the cars as the Bertone X1/9. Bricklin would sell the cars through his national network of dealerships in 1983, with new Bertone badging replacing the Fiat logos, new wheels and other minor changes. Unfortunately, the price of the X1/9 steadily increased and a car that originally sold for less than $5,000 in 1975 was selling for triple that amount nearly a decade later. Increased competition was also coming from Pontiac's new Fiero and the 1985 Toyota MR2, both of which were more modern designs wrapped around mid-engine layouts. In 1985, Bricklin bowed out and Bertone continued to sell the X1/9 in the U.S. with a variety of gimmicks, such as a tacked-on rear wing, restyled gauges, fresh wheels and the like. By 1988 Bertone ended production, but there was enough of a backlog of unsold cars that you could likely still find a new X1/9 to buy as late as 1990.

Fiat X1/9 Highlights

In Europe, Abarth was likely the highest-regarded tuner of Fiat vehicles, and in 1971 Fiat purchased Abarth to develop its in-house motorsports division, among other tasks. In the mid-1970s, Fiat was heavily into World Rally Championship (WRC) competition and Abarth had developed the 124 Spider Rally to compete on an international level. Abarth also built a handful of experimental X1/9-based rally cars using the 124's 1.8-liter twin-cam engine, producing more than 150 horsepower in racing guise with a trick 16-valve cylinder head. Dubbed the Abarth X1/9 Prototipo, the new race car was entered in a series of rally events in 1973, including the Giro d'Italia, but retired from most with mechanical trouble. The 1974 season went better, with Ferrari Formula 1 ace Clay Regazzoni handling driving duty in some events and the X1/9 Prototipos coming home with three race wins. Unfortunately, Fiat Group's Lancia brand had also developed the Lancia Stratos (also designed by Bertone's Gandini), with a 2.4-liter V-6 pulled from the Ferrari Dino 246 GT. Internal decisions led to the Stratos leading the motorsports charge and the handful of X1/9 Prototipos built eventually made their way into private hands.

Gian Paolo Dallara, a legendary automotive engineer who worked with Gandini on the Lamborghini Miura, also built a special X1/9 for motorsports with a fiberglass wide-body kit, a massive rear wing, and a significantly re-engineered suspension and drivetrain. The Dallara Icsunonove (X1/9 written phonetically in Italian) debuted at the 1975 Paris auto show as a Group 5 racer. Dallara only built a single car, but licensed the design to several privateers, resulting in about 30 cars built between 1975 and '78. Fiat Group did take notice, subsequently hiring Dallara to develop several of its Lancia race cars.

It's worth noting that the X1/9 was somewhat overbuilt for its size to cope with then-pending U.S. safety regulations that would have mandated all vehicles sold in the country to withstand a 50-mph head-on collision. The X1/9 was one of two production cars of the day able to pass the test, the other being a Volvo sedan.

Fiat X1/9 Buying Tips

For many years, the Fiat X1/9 was ill-regarded for looks which had become dated by the 1990s, its lack of power, and its questionable reliability. Today, rising classic car values leaving fewer affordable options have helped to lift the X1/9 out of perpetual ridicule. For less than $10,000, just about anyone can purchase this Italian classic with mini-exotic looks, a mid-mounted engine and a removable roof.

The most desirable X1/9s are the first-year, 1974 models for their more handsome bumpers and relative rarity. Late Fiat and Bertone models with fuel injection come next for their improved reliability and performance, while 1975-78 models are probably the least desirable to most buyers with their limited power and fussier temperament. The Lampredi belt-driven SOHC engine is relatively easy to tune for more power, and is engagingly high-revving with a redline of nearly 8,000 rpm. Drive belt changes are generally recommended at five-year intervals—pistons can meet valves if they're overdue.

Fiat X1/9 FAQ

●     Is A Fiat X1/9 A Fast Car?

Absolutely not! The best a 1.5-liter stock Fiat X1/9 can hope for is a 0-60-mph sprint in just over 12 seconds and a top speed of perhaps 115 mph. Downhill. In a tailwind. Fiat X1/9s are bought for their handling, heritage, and style—or because it's the closest you'll come to exotic car ownership.

●     Are Fiat X1/9s Reliable?

Fiat got a bad reputation in the U.S. due not just to sloppy quality control, but also due to poor dealership service department training and funding. Properly and proactively maintained, a Fiat X1/9 can be a very reliable car. Let the little things go, like regular oil changes and other preventative servicing, and you'll quickly have a problem car. Because of the X1/9's tendency to rust, it's ideal to have indoor storage, which can double as a workspace. Parts availability is generally good for a car of this age with several U.S. importers competing for your business.

●     Will The Fiat X1/9 Increase In Value?

The X1/9 has already benefited from a significant increase in value over the past decade, especially for nice examples of which relatively few are left. Whether the X1/9 continues to rise in value is anyone's guess, but we wouldn't buy one as an investment. สมัครเล่นบาคาร่า
